We are off again

"You can't afford not to go", that was the belief when one worked out the economics of a recent offer that appeared in the paper a few Saturdays ago.

Phoning the agent that had advertised a flight to Rome for $579 all in, we discovered that both British Airways and the agency - The Flight Centre, had applied discounts to their normal prices. No matter what the reason was we snapped them up.

"But we have been to Rome before, what will we see this time?" "We haven't seen the Amalfi Coast." was the reply. So off to the Amalfi Coast. The Internet yielded three hotels, four nights in Amalfi bookended by two nights in Rome. The train to Salerno was booked and paid for and we were ready to go. The economics were perfect - seven nights in Italy, a flight and a train trip for less than a thousand dollars apiece - a bloody bargain.
